In many cases, the  collection of saliva for saliva drug tests is easier and safer when compared to urine.

It simply involves using a swab that looks very similar to a an oversized Q-tip. To collect a specimen, the pad is then placed between the lower cheek and gum for about two minutes. Once saturated, the pad is then transferred to a collection vial (for transfer to a lab); or excreted on to the the testing area for immediate analysis (if applicable). Testing can be performed in both qualitative (instant based) and quantitative (laboratory based)
