In addition to our own Franchise Network of collection facilities,
nationwide
service is available using the cooperation of six major laboratories and
over ten thousand collection sites
Recently
there has
been
extensive
research on
the use of
saliva in
drug testing
and it has
grown in
popularity
due to its
"convenience
factor"
during the
collection
process.
Saliva has
certain advantages and disadvantages when compared to the use of urine in
testing for the presence of drugs
Advantages:
- Observed collections
without privacy issues
- Can be performed on-site anytime and
anywhere with immediate results
- Less invasive
- safer when compared to urine or blood
- good indicator for recent use
Disadvantages:
-
time limitation of drug detection window
(24 - 48 hrs)
- cannot be used to detect historical drug use
- Detection limited to:
THC, Cocaine, Amphetamines, Opiates, PCP, Methamphetamine,
Oral fluid based testing most
closely mimics results found with blood and is preferable for detecting
on-the-job drug use or in post-accident applications. However, time
limitation of detect ability should be considered when determining what
methodology is best for the situation.
