Alcohol Testing EtG / EtS Urine Tests
We Offer ETG (Ethyl Glucuronide) & ETS (Ethyl Sulphate) Urinalysis for Alcohol Detection at ARCpoint of Oceanside, CAThe Advantages of Alcohol ETG & ETS Urine Tests over other alcohol drug tests are that they record alcohol usage up to 80 hours after consumption.Substance abuse and addiction is a growing problem in this country and alcohol abuse plays a large part. Two conventional methods are commonly used for alcohol testing - simple urine tests and Breathalyzers. These methods are used to detect if one has consumed alcohol recently; but no such method was able to ascertain if one had taken alcohol more than 24 hours ago. This is because alcohol is processed by the body very rapidly, usually at a rate of 1 drink per hour. Recently, a new protocol has been developed which is being tagged as the "gold standard of alcohol testing" because it can tell if someone has used alcohol even a few days back! This powerful protocol successfully uses two newly developed testing techniques - the EtG (Ethyl Glucuronide) Test & The EtS (Ethyl Sulphate) Test. These methods are able to sketch down the whole alcoholic consumption history of the last 80 hours. This is a very useful tool for a zero tolerance policy on alcohol consumption. How Does an EtG/EtS Alcohol Test Work?Ethyl glucuronide (or ETG) is a metabolite only produced when alcohol is in the bloodstream. It is identified as a marker in alcohol through an analytical process that provides forensic evidence of the pattern of alcohol abuse - or absence of it. The more alcohol a person consumes the greater amount of EtG markers are present in the bloodstream. The presence of EtG in the urine can be used to detect recent alcohol consumption, even after the ethanol alcohol is no longer measurable. As a result, it can be determined that a urine alcohol test employing EtG is a more accurate indicator of the recent consumption of alcohol as opposed to simply measuring for the existence of ethanol alcohol. If the laboratory detects the presence of EtG in the urine sample, it then also tests for the presence of EtS (another alcohol metabolite). Testing for both these metabolites improves the accuracy and reliability of the test. ARCpoint of North San Diego County Area, CA generally uses EtG / EtS Urine Testing for zero tolerance and alcohol abstinence programs such as Drug Courts, family law, treatment facilities, and school systems.
